Filiz Kusan is a new artist who will come into your world, introducing fruit as art. Getting her ideas from her dreams, she uses second-hand clothing to coat bananas, peppers and any other kind of fruit or vegetable that comes to mind. Her work can be seen as colourful, organic, abstract and renewing. Filiz uses a lot of colour to indicate the meaning of that particular piece of fruit. In earlier times especially the apple was used to show how easy life can end. An apple that was partly eaten expressed how disposable life really is. Filiz turns this around by photographing real fruit coated with a choice of colourful fabrics to represent life. Since she uses fruit in a different context than was done before, we can speak of an evolution of fruit. Different themes can be seen in her work, such as women, the USA, Superman and leopard prints.
